How It Works
Build Systems

Build Systems

Students construct physical systems — ramps, machines, linkages, launchers.
Measure & Model

Measure & Model

Track distance, time, force, and efficiency. Connect motion to math.
Test & Optimize

Test & Optimize

Iterate designs, refine strategies, and solve real constraints.

What This Is

  • Hands-on mechanical physics workshops (75 minutes each)
  • Build, measure, and test real physical systems — ramps, levers, pulleys, launchers
  • Small group instruction (limited seats)
  • Concept-first approach connecting physics to math
  • Designed for curious middle school students

What Students Will Work On

  • Motion, forces, and simple machines
  • Measuring distance, time, force, and efficiency
  • Engineering design and iterative problem-solving
  • Connecting physical experiments to mathematical models
  • Scientific reasoning and communication

Instructor

Former mathematics teacher, Ivy League graduate with advanced degrees in pure and applied mathematics and research experience in mathematical modeling and AI.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Students explore core mechanical physics concepts such as motion, forces, energy, momentum, balance, and simple machines. Topics are introduced conceptually and reinforced through hands-on experiments and engineering-style challenges.
This is a workshop format, not a full semester course. Sessions focus on in-person exploration, experimentation, and discussion rather than long-term homework or formal assessments.
No. Workshops are designed for active, in-session learning only. Take-home notes and practice materials are offered in our classes, not workshops.
No prior physics experience is required. The workshops are designed for middle school students (Grades 6–8) and focus on building intuition through guided experiments and clear explanations.
Yes. All materials, tools, and experiment components are provided on site. Families do not need to prepare or bring anything.
Workshops are run in small groups to ensure active participation, questions, and instructor support. Students work individually and collaboratively in a screen-free, instructor-led environment.
